IANTD Normoxic Trimix

The IANTD Normoxic Trimix course is designed to train those who wish to dive to depths up to 60 metres where Trimix affords a means of reducing narcosis on dives to such depths.  The knowledge and skills taught in this program are more than adequate to qualify divers to perform Trimix Dives outside of training up to 60 metres. Two decopression gasses are used and unlimited decompression stops are allowed. This is a challenging but rewarding course opening some fantastic diving to the enthusiastic diver.

To enter into this course one must be qualified as an IANTD Advanced EANx Diver with a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which at least 30 were deeper than 27 metres and be a minimum of 18 years of age. Here in Puerto Galera this courses allows the diver access to the deeper underwater wall sections of  Hebo and Verde Islands, two world class dive sites.

 The course cover topics like

  • Equipment requirements
  • Dive planning and gas management
  • Oxygen tracking
  • Blending methods
  • Effects of Helium on decompression schedules

Equivalent Narcotic Depths are kept below 39m and the course comprises theory combined with an exam, a confined water session for skill development and four open water divers, one of which has simulated decompression and three real decompression.

This is an exciting and challenging course that opens up some exciting diving in the area, allowing safe access to the sites that are deeper than the recommended recreational dive limits.
